Wellbeing Program
All classes and specialist areas establish a set of classroom rules and consequences at the start of the school year. The rules are based on the premise that all students have the right to learn, uninterrupted by others in a safe and happy environment.
Our Wellbeing Program encourages the development of self esteem and independence though the five foundations of:
- Organisation
- Persistence
- Getting Along
- Confidence
- Resilience
Each child has a student booklet that outlines the rules and responsibilities of being a member of the school community. This booklet is signed each year by the students and their parents and kept in each child’s file.
The booklet covers the following topics:
- Responsibilities
- Expectations
- Consequences
- Conflict
- Bullying
- Treating people equally
Anti Bullying
Box Hill North Primary School believes that in order for students to learn to the best of their ability and to extend personal growth, they must have a safe and friendly environment in which to spend their time. The school provides a positive culture where bullying is not accepted, and in so doing, all students have the right of respect from others, the right to learn or to teach, and a right to feel safe and secure in their school environment.
In order to foster strong relationships between the students and teachers from a daily CCC session is held. Each day students are encouraged to share thoughts and feelings about events that are taking place in the their lives. This could include something they are sad about, looking forward to or have achieved. It enables both teachers and students to get to know each other and share in good and bad times.
