Parents’ Association

The Parents’ Association (PA) is an extremely active body within our school community and new members are always welcome. It provides an important forum for parents to support each other and many of the school’s programs and organise fundraising activities.

As well as a monthly meeting when fundraising activities are planned, our PA also holds a weekly morning tea after assembly on a Friday. This is a popular social activity for parents and is a great way to get to know other parents (toddlers are most welcome). The Principal, Kaye Albon is a frequent visitor to meetings, and is always prepared to discuss a wide range of issues.

Providing a pathway for parents to be involved in supporting the school

A vital role of our PA is fundraising and over the past three years $90,000 has been raised. This money has been raised through a wide range of activities including:

  • Annual Trivia Night
  • Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls
  • End of term hot dog days
  • Boscastle Pie drive
  • Hot Cross Buns drive
  • Entertainment Books
  • Weekly cake raffle at assembly
  • Shopping Tour
  • Bunnings BBQ
  • Cupcakes at End of Term
  • Chocolate Drive

Our Parents’ Association has provided funding towards:

  • Artificial turf in the playground
  • A marquee
  • A bike shed
  • Air conditioners
  • Sport equipment and sports tops
  • Blinds
  • Upgrading the Kindergarten’s playground
  • Goal post covers

Our PA is not just about fundraising and it supports our school in many different ways. Parents generously donate their time and effort to run the weekly School Canteen, Uniform Shop, school banking, and social events including Carols Night BBQ and ‘Cheers and Tears’ for Foundation (Prep) parents on their child’s first day of school.

School Assembly is held on a Friday morning from 9am to 9:30am. Parents are warmly encouraged to attend and there is a morning tea provided for parents, friends and family members after every Friday morning assembly.

Throughout the year the PA helps the school run a number of special events including Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day, Mothers’ Day morning tea, Fathers’ Day BBQ, and Carols Night.

It is refreshing that fathers are just as welcome as mothers in school life. From Kindergarten where I have the opportunity to participate in my youngest boy’s class to school camp that I was fortunate to attend, I have always been encouraged and warmly welcomed. I have also thoroughly enjoyed participating in class room help for all my boys.

The move into the grade 5/6 area which is separate from the rest of the school gives the kids a real sense of being the ‘big kids’ and is a start to their transition to secondary school and being more responsible.

The school garden is such a fantastic feature of our school. Garden Club students have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of gardening from the role of healthy soil to how to use silverbeet to make delicious pizzas. Science, nutrition and sustainability are explored in a truly hands on environment.

We run a progressive and innovative technology program to produce true 21st Century Citizens. Students in Prep enjoy using iPads and students in the senior school will be instructed with Ultrabooks as a part of our 1-to-1 program.
