Visual Arts
All students at Box Hill North Primary School experience an hour each week in the art room with a specialist Visual Arts teacher. The aim is to inspire a child’s imagination while building knowledge, artistic techniques, fine motor skills, literacy, numeracy, cognitive skills and confidence.
In a multi-arts approach to creativity, classes feature:
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Collage
- Mosaics
- Sketching
Students explore the artistic concepts of line, shape, colour, pattern and texture.
The program also includes the study of art history (old and new masters) and its relevance and significance to many world cultures.
Students participate in a number of collaborative works throughout the year. This includes each year level working together to produce an artwork that is then auctioned at the schools major fundraiser of the year. Every second year the whole school participates in an Art Fair showcasing the work of the students and providing opportunities for further learning.
